Podcasts continue to play on iPhone 13 after closing app

I was so desperate to make podcasts stop on my iphone 13 that I deleted the app. I searched for other solutions but it still followed me into my car and kept adding more that I had never selected. I tried pausing and closing the app but it still kept playing something in my car all the time. I found no specific instructions through Apple help. What more could I have done? Thanks
