Following the iOS 26 to my iPad Air 3 I have ended up with a duplicate icon on the Home Screen how do I remove one of the duplicates without removing the app?

Press and hold one of the duplicate icons, and choose “Remove App”. Then choose “Remove From Home Screen”.
If the other icon remains, problem solved. If it also disappeared, go to your App Library, find the app, press and hold its icon, then tap "Add to Home Screen".
