Issues with Photos after upgrading to Tahoe 26.2

I just upgraded my software to Tahoe 26.2. Now I am having problems with Photos. I try to import a file and then the screen goes white and becomes an elongated rectangle across the monitor. I have to quit and then reopen just to get back to my Photo library. It was working fine before I upgraded.

Try the following in order as needed:

1 - launch Photos with the Option held down and try to create a new test library. Import a couple of photos into it and run for a few minutes. Then try launching your original library.

2 - launch your original library with the Option+Command keys held down to rebuild/repair the library. If that fails to fix the problem go on to #3.

3 - boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Did you try the first two processes?

It's much more difficult to restore a previous system than it is fix the current situation.

One fix is to boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down  - Intel Macs) or  (How to Boot a Silicon Mac into Recovery Mode) and resinatsll the system. This should not affect your user data. But be sure to have a current Time Machine backup in any event.

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

Thank you for trying to help - I went into safe mode and simply hit the import button to see if this same thing happened again. It did. I am also unable to import photos into my Adobe Lightroom. Being a professional photographer, I am extremely alarmed at this development. I do not wish to reorganize my libraries - I want to go back to an earlier system... what is the best way to do this???
