*WARNING!*

Logic 12 does not work offline.

I updated without a back up of Logic 11 and now I have 8 years worth of Logic projects that I cannot access.

This is absolutely the dumbest thing ever by Logic team.

Think about all the reasons why your internet connection could be down and then consider if Logic 12 is really necessary.

I have made two reports to Apple.

If anyone is in the same situation, please make more reports and maybe someone at Apple listens.

So Apple makes an update and offers it automatically even to those whose computers are not able to run it and offers no possibility to get the older version back if they accidentally update?

Fair play.

(+ absolutely idiotic if they want to keep their customers.)

Indeed, this should NOT be possible for Intel Mac users. Please send a bug report to apple:

This is precisely my complaint. Usually when you install software, including Apple's, there's a warning or it won't install if it isn't compatible. Logic Pro 12 is working now for me on my Intel Mini. The calling home license thing only happened once. I didn't have a backup, and I expected they would make the previous version available. YOu know these versions are still around, because if you install Logic on an older iMac, it installs the older version. In my case it was older than 11.2.2 so I can't use it. I had a long call with Apple Support and the end was "That's the way it is, mate".

Yes, I bought Fender Studio Pro that has the stem splitter feature. I'm not about to buy a new Apple box now or ever. As much as I was happy with the hardware, the company has lost me due to planned/forced obsolescence and a weaker hardware build. The Mac you purchase today will not run perfectly in 12 years as do the two older Macs I own. I've already changed the 2011 Macbook Air to Linux. It does everything I need and can handle the newer updates. When my third box, a 2018 Mini stops allowing updates, I let that go, too.
