Apple iPhone screen replacement and performance?

I have never replaced my iPhone screen before, and was thinking of doing so because I noticed some small scratches on it. And it's bothering me a lot. If I change the screen from Apple, will it have any performance issues? Will it behave like before? Will I see any changes, or will it not be noticeable at all? I mean i have no doubts, but wanted to see if it's better to keep the current screen on. I appreciate any logical information in this case. Thank you. :)

Thank you so much for the reply. I am not thinking to do it myself. I will go to the Apple Store or an authorized Apple Service shop. I just wanted to make sure whether changing it would be a wise idea or to just keep it stock as it is. If I change the screen and battery, these devices become refurbished, right? After the change, will I see any significant difference from the original device? Or i'll not notice any difference at all. I am seeking a general idea. I know that situations might vary from person to person. Just wanted to understand the experience people get after changing parts of their devices.

Replacing the iPhone screen or battery does NOT make the phone refurbished. If you have scratches on the screen a far less expensive solution would be put a good quality screen protector on the screen, which will likely hide scratches you've gotten and prevent future scratches. You do realize Apple will charge $379 to replace the screen on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, right? And the Battery will add another $100. The total trade value of an iPhone 14 Pro Max is up to $350. You'd be investing more than the phone is currently worth.

If your battery health has dipped to 80% or less, it is time to replace the battery in your phone. Again, ONLY letting Apple replace it. It too won't make your phone refurbished.

First.......we need to clarify that you yourself cannot replace the screen, if that might be what you are thinking.

Screen replacement service is available at the Apple Store or an authorized Apple Service shop. You can find a list of authorized shops in your area using this link:

Find Locations

If you cannot live with your screen in its current condition, then a screen replacement will be required. About $400, but your iPhone's battery will also need replacing if the Battery Health is under 80%. Add about $100 for a new battery.

Thank you so much for the reply. I was thinking about all the aspects of the whole situation, and thank you for explaining everything to me. I was also worried about the budget restraints. I only wanted to get the screen replacement because of insurance coverage, and I live in Norway. I am not entirely sure that Apple has any solutions here, but I'll have to look into it. I don't wanna risk compromising the device. I really, really appreciate the broad response, man. :)

You're very welcome. I would NOT replace the screen, but I WOULD put a good quality screen protector on. And if the battery is ready to be replaced, definitely do that.

No, you will have a used phone with a new screen and battery.

A refurbished phone from Apple would come with a new one year warranty. The warranty on your phone expired a few years ago.

If you have not already tried this.....gamble $20-30 on a good screen protector, as lobsterghost1 suggests. It might help to "hide" or at least minimize the scratches.

If you plan to hold on to the phone a few more years, a new battery would make sense if the Battery Health is down around 80%.
