FaceTime Wide Spectrum enabled but still filters background noise (iPhone 16 Pro Max)
I’m experiencing an issue with FaceTime microphone modes.
During FaceTime video calls, I switch the mic mode to Wide Spectrum via Control Center, and the UI shows that it is enabled. However, people on the call still report that background sounds are heavily filtered, as if the mic is still in Standard or Voice Isolation mode.
This happens: on FaceTime video calls, without AirPods or any external microphone, even though Wide Spectrum is visibly enabled
Background sounds (keyboard typing, ambient noise, music) are barely picked up.
I’ve tested this with different people and networks, and the issue seems consistent.
Device: iPhone 16 Pro Max
iOS version: 26.2
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a known FaceTime / iOS bug, or is there a workaround?
