Apple TV 3rd generation still linked to Apple ID after reset

I recently sold an Apple TV 3rd generation, before selling I had done a reset and removed it from the device list. The person who bought it says it still shows that it is hooked up to an Apple ID and can’t access it. It doesn’t show up in Find My.

is there anywhere else it would show?

The older third generation Apple TV will not appear in the device list.

The new owner should be able to press and hold the menu button on the remote to exit the AirPlay screen.

It can then be turned off in Settings ➜ Airplay ➜ Conference Room Display.

Also of note is that 3rd Generation Apple TVs no longer have access to any content beyond AirPlay, and Home Sharing.

The main screen will only show the Computers and Settings buttons.

The new owner will not see any apps or anything else to stream from.

Is it a 4K apple Tv 3rd generation? Or the older regular non-4K 3rd generation?

Why can't he access it exactly?

Even if it still logged in to an Apple Account, the Apple TV should just start up to Home Screen regardless, and any logged in Apple Account can be logged out from Settings and replaced with their own.

Settings ➜ Users and Accounts ➜ select name/account ➜ Remove User

Apple TV's don't show in Find My.

The screen you show is just for AirPlay, it has no ties to a specific Apple Account. If the issue is the "Downstairs Emilys Room", that's just the name of the Apple TV, and can be changed in the Apple TVs Settings. under General ➜ About ➜ Name.

Check your Apple Account device list to find where you’re signed in - Apple Support - Follow the instructions there to remove it. You can otherwise just do a quick check on an iPhone or iPad in Settings - Your Name to see all devices signed into your Apple account. It would also show in the Home App. Just removing from the Home App doesn’t ensure it will be completely removed. It can easily be removed by them signing out in settings. Or they can perform another Reset.
