How to resolve Apple Vision Pro software update failure and potential hardware issue without paying $2400

I recently used my Vision Pro after a long time. I needed to update the software to 26.2 to use an app. The update failed. And Failed again after resetting the device…. Took it to the Apple Store and the recovery using the developer tool also failed. They after several attempts using different apple approaches, my Vision Pro stuck in a recovery mode. They stated I needed to send the device in to see if it was a software or hardware issue. The cost if it was determined to be a hardware issue would be 2400 dollars, paid up front. Throwing 2400 additional dollars at a rarely used 3500 device didn’t make sense. So now I have a totally unusable device. Other users I know said that have encountered the same issue. STUCK and Not Happy. Is there any other options…? Is there a market for parts? Thanks. Matt

Unfortunately if your Vision Pro is out of warranty and it is a hardware issue you will be charged for repairs. That’s why I always buy an AppleCare+ extended warranty for the more expensive Apple hardware I own.

As for a parts market Apple does not offer any self-repair options for the Vision Pro. Your only option would be a third party repair shop with access to parts from used Vision Pro hardware.
