Syncing iPhone and Mac Music Without Risking losing it all.

My iPhone has songs I've imported from CDs and purchased through Apple over the years. Somehow, my Mac only has my Apple purchases (or so it seems). Obviously, the songs were one some computer at some point, but that was years ago and the computer is long gone.

There does not seem to be a way to get songs, albums, playlists from my phone to my Mac. When I connect and try to sync I'm prompted with a warning that it will replace what's on my phone with what's on my Mac. That is not what I want. I was to copy my music the other way (or sync it and have it go the other way).

Basically, I there doesn't seem to be a way to get music from iOS to Mac. Or is there and I'm just not seeing it?

Thanks.

You will need to purchase a 3rd party software like touchchopy or imazing to export data from your phone to the Mac.

That's what it seemed like but that's strange considering how much they tout this whole "put everything in iCloud, trust us. Let Go Let Apple" thing.

I suppose it has something to do with DRM but I thought that's what the whole "Authorize computer" thing is about.

If you still had access to your old pc/mac this would've worked Move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Community

I could be wrong but using the cloud would be Apple Music which would replace your library, if the songs are also in Apple Music..

Here a good read from one of our users Managing your Mac media libraries - Apple Community
