Will replacing a cracked screen allow me to get into the phone to back it up to the cloud?

I purchased a replacement phone (15 Pro Max) after cracking the screen so badly on my old phone (12 Pro Max) that it won't open. The 12 Pro Max wasn't fully backed up to icloud. It won't recognize accessories to get into the phone to back it up and I can't open the screen due to it malfunctioning. If I replace the screen, will it allow me to get into it long enough to back it up to iTunes?
