iPhone Blue Icon at the top right of the screen on homescreen and in all apps

My iphone shows a blue square icon with a white up arrow at the top right of the screen. It is there on the home screen and in all the apps. It looks like this:

How can I get rid of this?

Thanks for helping me out.

The settings were correct. What I had not realized was how iPhone behaves re. modifier keys.

Press Caps once makes caps for the next letter. The blue square disappears after a moment

Press Caps twice puts it into all caps mode and the blue square remains put (as all caps is on permanently)

It is touching how apple is trying hard to help us and confusing us at the same time.

On the same token, the entry field for sim pin is light grey on white. How anyone is supposed to see this field eludes me.

About this Icon:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Accessibly
  3. Tap: VoiceOver
  4. Tap: Typing
  5. Check Only: Control + Option

or...

Perform a Froce Restart:

So, perform a Force Restart on your iPhone.

You are welcome.

Modifier Keys:

You toggled this on, and then this occurred, and I assume it was done intermittently. If this seems inefficnely, then let Apple know

"On the same token, the entry field for sim pin is light grey on white. How anyone is supposed to see this field eludes me."

That's the default GUI (Graphical User Interface of iOS26. You can change it, such as using dark mode: Use Dark Mode on your iPhone and iPad - Apple Support. If you think it should be different, then let Apple know about that...
