Problem with Sending and Receiving SMS/RCS messages on iOS 26.2

I have an iPhone 11 and have recently downloaded iOS 26.2. I am now having insane issues staying connected to my carrier's service. I also can no longer consistently send text messages (SMS or RCS) to people. I can still iMessage people both on WiFi and off of WiFi but I cannot send or receive SMS or RCS messages unless I randomly hit a spot of solid connection where then I get boatloads of messages that have been trying to come through to me, including emergency alert updates from work. I was wondering how if there's a way to fix this?

Ways I've tried to fix this so far:

  • restarted my device (many a time)
  • turned cellular data on and off (giving ample time between switching on and off)
  • selected my carrier under cellular settings; made sure when it was set to automatic, I unchecked that and then selected my carrier again and again
  • turned data roaming on and off (giving ample time between switching on and off)
  • did a dance and provided an offering of good will to the skies

Can't send or receive message then try these steps first

  1. Restart your device: ...
  2. Check your network connection. ...
  3. Check with your carrier to see if the type of message you're trying to send, like MMS or SMS, is supported.
  4. If you're trying to send group MMS messages on an iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn on MMS Messaging.
