Mac - Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2022 Installation query.

I am installing, and a box has appeared saying "Installer.app" would like to access data from other apps. Keeping app data separate makes it easier to manage your privacy and security. Never seen this before. Little concerned about app bought on line.

I found this, so I can be cautious and click Don't Allow and software should work OK, but I may get a few prompts.

When you run the Adobe Acrobat Pro Installer, it often needs to scan your system to check for:

  • Previous licenses or serial numbers stored in hidden system folders.
  • Integration with other apps, such as Microsoft Office, to install PDF plugins.
  • Subscription data from the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

What should you do?

  • Click "Allow" or "OK": If you downloaded the installer from the official Adobe website or the Creative Cloud Desktop app, it is safe to proceed. This allows the installer to complete its setup correctly.
  • Click "Don't Allow": If you are unsure or want to be cautious. Adobe states that denying this often has no impact on basic operation, though the prompt may reappear or certain plugins (like the "Save as PDF" button in Word) might not install.

How to manage this later

If you change your mind or want to stop the pop-ups:

  1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
  2. Check the Files and Folders or App Management sections to toggle permissions for "Adobe Acrobat" or "Installer".
  3. For persistent issues, you can grant Full Disk Access to the app to bypass individual folder prompts.

Did you download this installer directly from Adobe, or did it appear during a system update?

Recent operating systems on Apple devices have introduced a lot more security and sometimes bewildering disclosure notices as one app may require using the services of another app. If you get an app through the App Store I think things should all be above board and you don't see this. If you get one directly from a developer then it is a bit more of a individual judgment call and how much you trust that developer.
