Is adding a debit card to Apple Wallet the same as using Apple Pay?
I have added by debit card to my apple wallet is this Apple Pay ?

It's the first step in using Apple Pay.
It is not in and of itself Apple Pay though.
To use Apple Pay, you can take your your iPhone or Apple Watch when making a purchase in a store and double click the side button to bring up the Apple Pay screen, It will then show the card you added to the Wallet app. If you add more than one card, you can tap on the card shown and select a different one to pay with. Then bring the device close to the payment terminal to complete the transaction. That is Apple Pay.
Just adding the card is not Apple Pay but enables you to make use of Apple Pay.
Apple Pay can be used in physical stores, websites and apps that offer the Apple Pay button.
It is not used for purchases Apple's online stores like the App Store, and iTunes Store however.
