Pinch to zoom out, iPhone Photos app

This is the most unhelpful thread I have ever read in my entire life

If this is a serious change, it’s about the worst “upgrade” I think I’ve ever seen. What is the benefit?

this is the straw that broke the camels back. i’m done with iphones, im officially done.

I already submitted official feedback there.

For me personally, the full zoom-out view was the only convenient way to work. I have more than 50,000 photos — I could quickly find what I needed and easily navigate through the years. Now it’s impossible.

It’s especially awful when you work with digital content. My workflow has basically turned into ****, because I need to find things within seconds.

Nobody, especially on Reddit, knows what's coming. The "final" beta version is out there, but changes happen even after that.

And, as I said earlier, it's way, way easier to use albums and folders for organization.

Complaining on this Community of Users site won't change anything.

I’m going crazy that they removed such an important feature!

People who work with digital content have tens of thousands of photos. It was so convenient to work with the full zoom-out view.

Could you please tell me, have they said anywhere that they’re definitely planning to bring this feature back?

I read on Reddit that it might return in version 26.2.3. Has there been any confirmation about that?

I wasn’t able to pinch to zoom out. I thought it was a bug or something like that. Restarted the phone and nothing. I thought the problem was my device but apparently it isn’t :(

They have to go back with this!! :( It was so useful!! Already gave my feedback!

Well, yeah. That's what we do with our precious memories. I've been scanning my parent's old photo albums, and it's incredibly valuable when the pictures have a note on them telling who these people are and what's going on. Half the time I don't know exactly who wrote the note, so "Mom" doesn't tell me so much. But I'm grateful for anything that helps. Alas, most pictures aren't tagged or filed.

I totally get that--I try to avoid typing more than a few words (or emojis) on my phone's "keypad." There are options. I use my Mac, but you can write on any computer, and transfer the text if necessary. Or you can use an external keyboard-- I see something on Amazon for $13! And, while I find this a bit freaky, you can just talk into the phone.

However, putting pictures in an album is easy-- you just use the More (°°°) button:

You just need to create the albums ahead of time.

So are you manually tagging and filing every photo you take/save? Even if I possessed the unbridled discipline and devotion this would require I still couldn’t do it, as it’s virtually impossible to type three consecutive words without error on this keyboard (iphone17pm). It honestly feels like I’m fighting against a Japanese autocorrect. Took me close to 15 minutes to write this.
