MacBook Air screen: PET protector risks?

I bought a MacBook Air 2025. Can I apply a thin PET screen protector to prevent scratches? The adhesive is not strong — it’s a very thin film. What are the possible risks? And what kind of damage, if any, can occur when removing the film?

Due to extreme tight clearances do not place anything between the keyboard and the screen. Do not use any screen protector that adheres to the screen as it will damage the screen coating when being removed. Close the computer if you are concerned about pets scratching the screen.
