Photo, Preview, and Safari all have issues displaying HDR PNG images

Apple's default apps all have issues displaying PNG 3.0 images in HDR across all apple devices; when I render and export an Rec.2100 PQ HDR image in blender as PNG and open it with either Photos, Preview, or Safari, the HDR PNG image appears to lose highlight detail. If I open the same image in other browsers with PNG 3.0 support, such as Chrome, it displayed fine. Is this related to Apple's old none standard CgBI PNG format?
