No longer able to copy files from mac mini to ipad

For quite a long time I have copied songs, pictures, etc. from my M2 mac mini to my M4 ipad air. Two or three days ago, it stopped working. I received this message: "* could not be copied because an error occurred. The device is not connected". It is charging so i know it's physically connected. Interestingly, if I try again, it alerts me that the photo/song is already on the device and do i want to replace it. When say yes, it gives me the "not connected" message. I've tried different cables, tried using my macbook instead of my mac mini, tried rebooting the iPad, and nothing works. Other iPads and cables work, so it definitely seems like a problem with this ipad. Both the mac mini and macbook are running mac os 26.3 and the ipad is also 26.3.

Any suggestions?
