Screen sharing older iMac with MacBook Pro M4 chip

Can you use simple screen sharing on your network to use a 2011 iMac 27" as a second display (mirroring) a 2024 MacBook Pro with m4 chip? If so can you walk me through it? Thanks in advance

1) No, screen sharing is not the same as using an external display.

for screen sharing see > Share the screen of another Mac - Apple Support

for using an external display see > Use an external display with your MacBook Pro - Apple Support

2) No, the new M4 MacBook Pro does not support using an old iMac in Target Display Mode.

see those requirements at > Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

Well first let me thank you for getting me an answer. I appreciate that. However, you don't tell me whether I can use screen sharing so that I can use my MacBook Pro to run the display on the older iMac. If I could see the screen by mirroring the MacBook Pro screen I could view the display from my MacBook Pro and that would satisfy my needs. Is that doable do you know? Thanks.
