"No video input" on external monitor connected to MacBook Air (M1)

I am trying to connect an external Philipps monitor to my MacBook Air (M1 2020), using OS Ventura 13.6.4 and using the MHL-HDMI port on the monitor. The adaptor is an Articona with several different ports (the others are USB). It works with other devices--though I can't verify if the HDMI port specifically is working, the USB ports are.

This always worked with my previous Macs, and has worked previously with this one. But now the monitor is black and only briefly shows a "no video input" message. Then it goes to sleep.

The monitor is recognised by the MacBook; I can find it in the monitor settings, no problem there. But no signal reaches the monitor, apparently.

Does anyone have an idea where the problem might lie?

Because the Mac recognizes the monitor but the monitor says no input, I’d bet on one of these:

HDMI cable degraded / not negotiating stable signal
HDMI output portion of the Articona adapter is failing
Monitor is stuck on wrong HDMI/MHL state, or Ventura picked an output mode the monitor won’t actually display

If you want, tell me the exact Philips model number and the exact Articona model (or a photo of the dongle ports), and I can try to point you to the most probable resolution/refresh settings and whether that Philips HDMI/MHL port is known to be picky.

If the monitor has multiple inputs, are you sure that it is set to show the signal from the one connected to the Mac?

Thanks very much for this response. It does seem that there was something unstable in the connection, though I tried disconnecting and reconnecting several times. When I reconnected the monitor today--in fact so that I could write down the model number as recognised by the Mac (PHL BDM3270), I suddenly had my desktop on the screen of the monitor. I would guess the Articona HDML connection is faulty. See photo attached for model ID. I add all this information just in case it is helpful for future queries. I appreciate the help!
