iPad: Disney+ and Netflix mirror to TV, screen stays on

I connect my iPad to the tv to use the streaming apps which has worked fine for over 5 years, last year Disney plus was the first app to have an issue, when I play content it plays on the iPad and the tv where as before is used to say playing on connected tv and you could turn the iPads screen off. It’s now started doing the same thing with Netflix! I never used the official adapter for the previous 5 years but thought I’ll get the official apple adapter and it still does exactly the same thing!? Wouldn’t mind as much if the apple adapter wasn’t 3 times more expensive than the other ones I’ve used! Something has clearly been done to those apps as Amazon prime works flawlessly and Apple TV, you play the movie and the iPad screens shows the tv icon so you can turn the screen off and watch the content without issue like I used to be able to do for the previous 5 years! It does this with third party adapters as well! I purchased a new high speed hdmi cable but it still does the same thing for Disney and Netflix.
