HomePod 2 audio muddled/bass-heavy with Apple TV 4K

HomePod 2 audio output is not crisp and very bass heavy. Using it instead of tv speakers (LG model # 43UA7100AUB). Using Apple TV 4K 3rd gen. Set for Airplay, Bedroom. HomePod is mounted above TV 4" from wall and 5-1/2" from ceiling. Audio is very muddled and echo-y. I've played with all the Apple TV audio settings...
