Magic Mouse on MacBook Pro requires second click

Magic Mouse frequently requires second click. I’m on a 2020 MacBook Pro(M1) running Tahoe in clamshell mode using an external LG Ultrawide display, a dark gray Magic Mouse and an aluminum mini Apple wireless keyboard. I’m finding that when I’m making selections and scrolling that frequently the first click on the mouse does nothing. A second click usually selects the item. Not sure what’s causing this and it seems to happen when scrolling down the page is required. Any ideas on what is causing this and any fixes which may apply? Thanks in advance!

You can try adjust the "Double-click speed" in System Settings > Accessibility > Pointer Control

or make some changes and compare your results along the way.

have you tried removing the Magic mouse and setting it back up...

Set up your Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad with your Mac - Apple Support

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.
