Two Apple IDs under one name?

Can I have two Apple IDs under one name? So, I have one Apple ID on my main phone under my name e.g. X Y but now I want to have a second phone with a different Apple ID but when I'm asked to type in my name can I write X Y again and then just choose a different email or does the name also have to be different? (Can a person have multiple Apple IDs?)

Yes you can have 2 Apple ID's using different email addresses and the same name. There will be no connection between to the accounts. The only problem that may arise is if you are attempting to add the same cards to your Wallet where identify verification is required and the issuing bank may not provision them to 2 devices with a different Apple Account.

One possible workaround if you encounter the issue Mac Jim ID describes would be to set up Family Sharing where the payment method for one account would serve as the payment method for the other account.

If you end up doing that you may wish to introduce a minor difference in the name (such as include or omit a middle initial) just so it is clear who is who in the list of users.

I think your post raises the question as to why you need to do this and if there is a better solution.

You can use the same Apple Account on both iPhones, of course.

But lots of folks do use two or more Apple Accounts. This is common for business and personal devices, for instance.

I would not (usually) purchase from multiple accounts, and would use Family Sharing to share purchases and iCloud storage.
