iPhone 17 storage full, photos not uploading to iCloud

Iphone 17 storage issue

I pay for the 2 TB iCloud storage.

My iPhone 17 has no memory for updates.

I have all the settings for uploading to the cloud and optimizing.

But the pictures don’t upload to the cloud.

Please advise.

If you don't have much free space on your phone, then lots of things can become very slow or impossible. Deleting files may stop working. You can see this:

If you use Optimized storage, then pictures aren't really taking up much space. You may need to look at apps that you don't use, especially the data. You should look in the Files app to see if there's stuff to dump from there. Most things in Files>iCloud Drive don't take up much space, but files in "On My Phone" might be taking up plenty.

Wow-- you've gotten yourself into some trouble!

Now the iPhone off loads unused apps, that really isn’t the issue.

It may be the only issue you have control of. You need to free up space so Photos and the OS have room to work. The primary problem may just be a big slowdown of operations. so waiting may see some space clear.

Does "all the settings for uploading to the cloud and optimizing" mean that this is checked in iCloud Photos ?

This is what my phone looks like with 17000 pictures Optimized:
