Starting up new iPad , won’t let me progress at a certain point

I bought a new iPad and started setting it up using mirroring with my old one. All goes fine till I get to putting in my credit card, I wanted to set that up later, but the small wheel (loading?) will not move past that. I left it for 30 mins and still it would not let me progress. So I shut it down and started again and the same thing. I cannot get past this. Any help or ideas I would really appreciate. Thanks

iPad, iPadOS 26

If the process has stalled, you'll need to perform a restart - and, of prompted, continue with setup of your iPad.

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

You will, presumably, be setting-up your new iPad with the same Apple Account (previously known as AppleID) as your existing iPad. As such, any payment details associated with your paid Apple Services (e.g. iCloud+) will be automatically carried over.

If you are being prompted to enter ApplePay details during initial setup of the new iPad, you should be able to skip this item by selecting Cancel or Setup Later.
