Messages in notification center but not in Imessage when powering phone back on

When I turn my phone on after it died, I can see text messages I recieved in notifications but never in my Imessage app. How do I fix this/obtain these messages?

This mainly happens with non-iPhone phones texting me. For reference I have an Iphone 11 Pro.
