Ok what is going on with storage at this point?

can’t seem to free up any space. I record a lot of videos. So this seems to eat up free space fast. Naturally you would think if you deleted a 5 min video that should free up an additional 5 min of record time? Well it doesn’t.

Thats one thing but it’s a whole other thing entirely when I went through and deleted over two hours of footage, then went into recently deleted and deleted everything. Run a RAM clean only to find that I have even less storage available then before I did that??

im thinking ok maybe its “the cloud” or some other made up excuse just to try and give Apple the benefit of the doubt here, I mean I’ve only been completely committed to and defending this company every step of the way for the past just about 20 years now. Wow.. can’t believe how long it’s been.

Lately it’s seemingly just one thing after another.

Anyway I went to record again and didn’t get two minutes in before it’s telling me I’m out of space again. Just went in to start deleting more again and can see I’ve got things showing back up that I know I deleted.

At this point I’m not sure what to do. I’ve paid the $30 for the 6 tb storage, not even using 2 I’ve got 255 on my phone and everything I need on my phone so o have no idea what’s even using a tb not on my phone? Makes no sense, but supposedly I’ve got 4tb available but can’t record and apparently can’t free up space either. I have no idea what you want Apple?

What storage are you having trouble with, device storage or cloud storage or both? They are not interchangeable.

I also don't know what you mean by "RAM clean" but third-party "cleaning" programs generally cause more problems than they solve.

Do you want my blood? Here come take a kidney but know what why not just put me out of my misery, is that what you want Apple? I’m genuinely not sure at this point.

Maintaining your Storage:

iCloud Storage plays no role in your Local Storage. It is cloud storage. So, what do you see when you view storage?

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: iPhone Storage

II. Maintaining iPhone Storage:

Internal storage cannot be upgraded. It is what it is. So, the maximum internal storage capacity never increases, even if you upgraded your iCloud plan. Learn More here: What's the Difference Between Device Storage and iCloud Storage? Apple Support

So, what to do...

Clear Space Using my User Tips:

III. Maintaining iCloud Drive:

You can download all of iCloud, and then trash what remains in iCloud Drive. That's not to say that iCloud Drive is taking up lots of space, but by exporting it, you'll be able to access it elsewhere. Use my user Tip: Getting a Quick and Direct "iCloud Drive-to-External Hard Drive" Download - User Tip. Then, verify you can access it. Once verified, trash what remains.

Re: “Makes no sense, but supposedly I’ve got 4tb available but can’t record”

You cannot record video directly to cloud storage. The phone needs access to local storage with predictable performance to record video, even if it later backs up or synchronizes that video to iCloud. Internet connections can drop out or vary widely in speed, possibly making them unable to keep up with the stream of video data the phone is recording.

If you are using 2 TB of a 6 TB iCloud+ plan, but your phone only has 256 GB of local storage, that might suggest that you have multiple devices using iCloud - or are using iCloud Photos, with a huge photo / video library, and with the phone given permission to store reduced-quality, space-saving copies of items in it.

Re: “Run a RAM clean only to find that I have even less storage available then before I did that??”

RAM (fast, temporary, working memory whose contents are lost when power is turned off) and storage (for your data) are not the same thing.

in addition, there is no need for a so-called RAM cleaner on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, or even Windows 11 or Linux, for that matter. Managing RAM is one of the core functions of most modern operating systems, and there is little for a “RAM cleaner” to do except offer snake oil, or perhaps even get in the operating system’s way.

On iOS, “cleaning” RAM would likely do nothing, or cause iOS to ask apps to write not-yet-saved data in RAM - which could indeed require storage.

Good thing it was free, it’s feature of a program that primarily monitors functionality. When you run a RAM cleaner, it forcefully kills background processes. This temporarily lowers the CPU usage, which gives the phone a brief "breather" to focus on the one task are using it for in a given moment. It clams to free up anywhere from few hundred mb to a g or more per run, if that clean

is also clearing caches it might free up just enough storage for the OS to stop choking for the moment. Regardless what it does or means, it helps.. unlike your comment.

Apple built & moderates everything said and done here.
apps that are harmful are not supported by Apple, according to Apple.

If it had been clear to me what you meant, I wouldn't have asked for further clarification. Is "Ram clean" an app? Or something you did.

Just because something is available in the App Store doesn't mean it does anything useful. And there are apps, that if used without careful consideration, can do harm.

if not interested in being helpful why comment?

I can't be helpful if you won't answer basic clarifying questions. But, as you seem more interested in disparaging people who have voluteered their time to help you than participating in the troubleshooting process, I will leave you to your own devices.
