Yes, I have heard that AppCleaner is an exception which does not corrupt the system if used cautiously and the user knows what s/he is doing.

2. Use the app's own uninstaller.
3a. If there is no uninstaller, then just trash the app.
3b. If there are large app support files left in ~/Library and /Library, then maybe carefully manually trash them or use 3rd party app to search them. But don't overdo it because other apps might need those files.
DON'T use any "cleaner" apps (CleanMyMac, Cleaner One, MacKeeper etc) which often corrupt the system!
I use the AppCleaner app which can remove the app fully. When you open the AppCleaner app, it presents a window into which you drag the app to be removed. You are also presented with a list of the app's components which may then be selected for removal. Carefully check these to ensure that they all have the app's name in them before initiating the removal process. Only those which you have selected will be removed. Done properly, AppCleaner is safe and easy to use.
Thanks - that helps. But having checked if ok I have used CleanMyMac as a lot of reviews support it. And yes it did delete password files. So I guess it is best to use the manual route you suggest - thanks.
Thanks.
