iPhone message suggestions switch between number and email

What would cause a contact’s info to revert between their mobile number(iPhone) and their email when I’m about to send them a message and the phone populates suggestions. Even if I put their complete number on the header, it’ll sometimes generate their email as a suggestion.

(Mind you, their contact card has both cell phone and email, respectively)
