iCloud logo always present next to iCloud Documents in Finder on Mac

Is it normal for the documents folder for iCloud if you have iCloud Drive turned on to always have the cloud logo present next to the documents tab in finder in Mac os26? Because I am nearly sure it wasn’t there a few days ago. But it has been stuck like that for days now. Is there anyway to to find out what is going on?

If you still haven't fixed this and your docs have not fully uploaded from Mac to iCloud then open the Activity Monitor App (it's in the Utilities folder in Applications), search for "bird" in the search bar at the top right of the app and then stop it by hitting the button at the top thats an X inside a circle.

If you can't find bird then go to View in the menu bar and make sure that "All Processes" is ticked.

Like I said, "The icons will sometimes change-- to filling circles, for instance, when transfers are being made."

So iCloud Drive is transferring files between the computer and iCloud.com. When it's through, it will look like this

That symbol may only appear when you hover over it.

You can look in the iCloud Drive folder, and you should see some files with the filling circle, showing which ones are loading. It looks like your Documents and Desktop files are all fully transferred.

Good advice if the syncing is actually stuck. And by the way, the easiest way to open Activity Monitor is to use Spotlight (command-space) and type in Activity.

This is one of the things that restarting the Mac will do for you. Re-booting is a pretty good thing to try if things are behaving in a way that's not making sense.

This is my iCloud Drive folder:

Desktop and Documents folders look much the same. I have iCloud Status for the files expanded to show the meaning of the icons.

The open cloud icon indicates that the file is local on my Mac and also in iCloud Drive at iCloud.com

The icons in the sidebar mean the same. The icons will sometimes change-- to filling circles, for instance, when transfers are being made. So they indicate the current status of things iCloud.

It looks like you took a photograph of your screen. A screenshot produces better results:
