iPhone 15 Pro Portrait mode says "move further away

i have an iphone 15 pro and portrait mode keeps saying move further away. reset not helping

iPhone 12, iOS 26

You or the iPhone have selected the telephoto lens. Telephoto lenses have a great Minimum Focus Distance. You must move further away from the subject or select a different lens which will allow closer focusing than the telephoto lens.


You may also encounter a similar message when attempting to take a macro or closeup photo. The message will advise you to backup or use the ultra wide angle lens.
