Safari address bar focus bug

I have a problem with the address bar in Safari 26.2 on macOS. When I type in a URL and hit return, the address bar stays focused after the website loads. I then have to click somewhere on the page or hit esc to put focus on the webpage. This happens when I follow an autocomplete suggestion as well but not when I use the address bar to go to a tab I already have open. Any ideas for how to fix this?
