Password setting for screen saver is dimmed

Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off.

Item is dimmed in Settings and cannot be changed.

MacBook Air, macOS 15.7

This is caused by iPhone Mirroring app. To fix:

Open iPhone mirroring app

Click settings

click "ask every time" (not the auto authentication)

go back to lock screen and set PW to never

I was thrown by rejection of dialling via iPhone being refused (so I could log a number and add a contact).

I must have misunderstood the usage required.

Anyway problem and setting fixed,

I can't find the mirroring app. I know how to mirror my phone but there is no app, just an icon that opens and shows my computer that I want to mirror to.

The iphone mirroring app is in your mac's Applications folder. Open that app
