iPhone 4 not recognized by PC or Mac for photo transfer

I'm trying to copy photos from old iPhone 4 to my Windows PC or Macbook Air 2017.

As I found, iPhone 4 is not compatible with my Macbook.

I tried it with Windows. When I connect the phone with a USB cable, it is not recognized by my Windows. Neither iTunes, nor Photos apps are able to recognize it.

Any constructive advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Windows, Windows 10

I have two old iPhone 4S in the basement as well as MANY other old <cough>obsolete<cough> cell phones. I get a new phone from my kids when they upgrade (currently using iPhone 8 -- just yesterday Apple released iOS 16.7.14 update for it) or if the old phone no longer supports banking, parking etc.

If newer macOS can't anymore import the photos, try to email them to yourself.

What's different about this phone now than when you asked a couple of weeks ago? Did something change? You had said to edclange:

I've already tried a couple of 3rd party tools, no success.

In any case, your info is very clear and helpful.

Have you tied some new stuff? With what results?

Same phone, but completely new issue.

I was able to "revive" this phone by installing a brand new battery. Once charged, the phone started in a normal state.

Now, as I posted, I want to copy the photos.

The phone is not connected to any mobile provider. It is connected to my home wi-fi.

Other than that, it seems like a fully functional device, but unfortunately not being detected by my computers when connected using usb cable, neither macbook air not windows pc.
