Multiple adaptor issue

Which multiple adaptor can I use on my 13" macbook pro? I am currently using one but it causes a power issue on my external hard drive (keeps disconnecting) and my wacom tablet (stays on idle and not responding). Currently the power supply cable is plugged into the top port of the adaptor and the adaptor cable is in the top port of the laptop. I have tried 2 different adaptors and both have the same issue. Please advise

Getting a USB Hard Drive to Connect:

You may be using too much power (Wattage/Voltage). So, use the adapter that came with your Mac. If you use too much power, you'll get a message about using too much wattage used from so. The issue is you are drawing too much power. So, see about using a USB hub that has external power plug (likely found on Amazon on at a local retailer). Or are you using one, as of this moment.
