MacBook Media & Purchases greyed out, music sync problem

Having trouble syncing music macOS to iOS. updated the Macbook so both have the latest software. Restarted computer and iPhone. Logged out of account on iPhone and laptop, but now the media and purchases is greyed out and can't log back into media and purchases on laptop running Tahoe.
