iOS updates don't cause such issues, but batteries which are at or near their end of life do. Your iPhone could be at least 5 years old and if it has the original battery, the battery is likely failing. Open Settings > Battery > Battery Health - if the health is at, near or below 80%, it's time to pay Apple to replace the battery.
