Help The Aged (I'm only in my 60's)

My son has said I can have his MacBook Pro.

He has installed Windows 11 via a partition, Boot Camp.

I cannot access the internet. When I troubleshoot it tries to connect me to the internet!!!

So I have tried to learn how to use Apples operating system.

I have an iPod Classic. I have tried to download iTunes but it says I need an earlier operating system.

I get it we have to update. We now have the 'wheel' which I am happy to use. as well as 'fire'.

When all of my generation has passed, we will no longer have to take into account helping dinosaurs to use A I.

Welcome to the Mac environment, my friend.

It was very nice gesture from a son to his dad. 👍🏽 Keep him close to give you some assistance as you need it.

If you can tell us more about the MacBook Pro, we can provide the best guidance for making it work for you.

In particular, let us know what the model year and screen size of the MacBook Pro are. You can click the Apple menu  at the top left corner of the screen and select About This Mac. The resulting window will look similar to one of those below.

Also please tell us what version of MacOS is installed.

Note- Please do not post your Mac's serial number.

Very good.

That's a fine MacBook Pro, tho a little vintage. (Aren't we all? 😉)

Is it your intention to focus on the macOS side of things here with this computer?

Or do you prefer to user the Windows OS that your son installed?

If the former, then you might convince your son to delete the Boot Camp partition and reinstall the macOS to address the entire drive space and eliminate the potential for conflict and confusion as you learn and use the computer.

As for the iTunes app, back in 2019 w Catalina 10.15 Apple split the iTunes app into separate parts - Books, Music, Podcasts and TV apps - and changed the way iPods sync their content. Now the sync process is managed and takes place in a Finder window though it can be initiated in the Music app.

It's been some time since I worked with an iPod and my search for sync guidance came up a little short. I did find this for the iPod Touch and Mac, however, for what it's worth: Sync iPod touch with your computer - Apple Support
