Can’t use Bluetooth Mic with hearing aids. IOS treats Bluetooth Mic as a speaker

I have Resound hearing aids that work great on my iPhone 16, but if I use the hearing aid microphone parties on the other end tell me the noise of everything else in the room makes it hard to hear me.

So I turned off the hearing aid mic to use the iphone mic, great people can hear me but now it’s not hands free.

So I bought a Razer Seiren Bluetooth Mic and paired it, but iOS will only allow the Bluetooth Mike to be selected as a headset/speaker even it’s only a microphone.

is there any way to get iOS to treat the Mic as a mic only so I can talk through the BT mic and listen through my hearing aids? Or is this a defect in iOS?

No, that’s not possible. This is a limitation imposed by Apple. I can provide details on why your request has not supported, but it gets pretty technical. Before you go thinking you’ll switch to Android, it doesn’t offer it either. My best guess is, more expensive components and increased battery consumption. But I could easily be wrong.

If you want the details, just let me know. I just finished researching all this yesterday for another community member with a similar Bluetooth issue.
