What is the purpose of Tab Group in Safari?

What is the purpose of Tab Group in safari?

My ideal Tab Group function:

Save all opened tabs into a tab group one-click;
Tab Group shows up in side bar AND DOES NOT CHANGE until I actively manipulate each tab in sidebar;
Tab Group does not disappear when I close Safari;
Tab Group can be converted into Bookmark Folder or Reading List.

Currently, the Tab Group workflow feels a little confusing, promising and useless at the same time.

It is pretty basic functionality simply to group a set of tabs by topic and has had only minor changes through the last few OS versions.
