HAND PEN SIGNATURES (and handwriting in general) in PAGES no longer an option & elsewhere too

No longer able to use 3rd Part Accessory USB Tablet/Stylus Mac for Pages signatures/ INSERT box then rescale.... NOTES/FREEFORM etc.,

Apple Mac Studio on current OS and all Apple apps upto date:

I can no longer use my stylus and tablet 3rd party to hand sign or sketch/doodle on Pages, Notes, Freeform etc... WHY NOT?!?!? what is going on ? I don't want to/can't/ it's not ergonomic/ to use an iPad as a poor alternative... if I need to flick a tick - where? darned if I can find anything. and if this is part of the new regime, then the new regime is dumb. We use(d) notes to hand write as sketching - it's second nature - well it was.... can it be again? all guides much appreciated
