Axis range for Charts in Numbersl
I've encountered a peculiar behavior using Numbers on my iPad. I'm using version 15.1 of Numbers and iPadOS 26.2.1.
As a test, I created both the table and graph. It's just a simple graph of the sine function from π to 2π.
When I select the x and sin(x) columns starting at the headers and create an x/y scatter chart, the x axis of the graph starts at zero even though the range of x in the table starts at pi.
When I look at the dialog box to set the minimum and maximum x axis range, both fields show Auto. I thought Auto would scale the x axis of the graph based on my table in the range of π to 2π, but the x axis starts at zero.
Thus, I need to manually adjust the axis scale (min of 3.142 and max 6.283) in the chart fornatting section.
I thought Auto in the X and Y axis max and min fields meant that the scale of each axis would get its values from my table. If each field is set to Auto shouldn't that mean that the graph would use my table's values to scale the chart?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
