iPad OS26 projecting only one app while multitasking
I am running a 6th generation iPad Pro 12.9" on iPadOS 26.2.1. Before the update to OS26, I could have an app running and projecting (Keynote or Notability for me) and then load a second app split screen (such as Spotify or Music). When I did this, the presentation would stay on the projector, but the second app would be hidden. In my case, I use this to teach music classes. I used to be able to have something on the screen such as a musical score and then play the audio via Spotify/Music without the class seeing my screen.
Since the update to OS26, if I start a Keynote presentation or go into presentation mode in Notability it projects as expected. However, when I open the music app the entire iPad screen is mirrored including the second app.
Is there a way to only have one program appear on the projector at all times in OS 26 multitasking? This functionality was pretty crucial to the way in which I teach my music classes and was one of the primary reasons for switching to the iPad as a teaching instrument. Any advice or help to make this new system work would be greatly appreciated. I find it distracting to have both apps on the projector screen and, frankly, I don't necessarily want the students to see all of the playlists I have loaded or what I have been listening to. It is an unnecessary distraction during class.
