Your hard drive is failing:

Write speed: 92 MB/s

Read speed: 132 MB/s

The first thing you should do is get a Time Machine backup of your boot drive so as to facilitate a smooth restore of your user data when you either get a new boot drive or new Mac.

The machine is considered obsolete by Apple. If you decide to get a new boot drive your should get an external SSD drive and clone your current boot drive to it with the free version of Carbon Copy Cloner. If you have someone replace the failing drive with a new one, preferably an SSD the cost would be more than the value of your iMac. If you keep your current machine the best solution would be to get an external SSD. I recommend one from OWC (MacSales.com). You should contact their Customer Support to get their recommendation of which of their products would best suit your workflow and budget. An external SSD can be taken with you when you decide to get a new Mac.

Or if you decide to get a new Mac consider the following: a 10 Core Mac Mini M4 with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD ($1084 US) with a 32" LG 4k monitor ($331 US) from Amazon.com)  is $1415 US which is $541US less than a similarly configured new 24" iMac ($1956 US)  re 07/2025. Keep your keyboard and mouse from your current Mac for use with the Mini.

I got the above Mini with a 32" LG 4K monitor w/speakers for only $60 US more than the 27" (didn't know the Mini had a speaker).  There are many monitors available in 27" size for $100 US to $500 US depending on what features you want.  The monitor prices are before tariffs.
