my desktop disappeared during migration from macbook air 2015 to macbook air 2025
macbook air 2015 running OS12.7.6
macbook air 2025 running OS26.2
migration took hours but no error message, the desktop was just totally empty on the Macbook as well as on iCloud
Any idea of what might have happenned and if there is any chance to recover it somehow ?

Desktop Not Showing After Migration Assistant:
Just how many hours would you say this took about? Either there are Terabytes worth of data > the Data Transfer Rate was Slow > The Transfer Stalled > Or there are no such existing items in the TMB file. So, are you using a VPN here? If so, delete it. Also, Open the Time Machine file in Finder, and browse through it, search for the Desktop folder from within it.
