MacBook Pro M4 Pro display remains black after power outage when using external monitor after Tahoe Update
I am using my Apple MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip in an extended display setup, where my external monitor is set as the main display and the MacBook’s built-in screen is used as the secondary display. Everything works normally in regular situations. For example, when my MacBook is on and I connect the HDMI cable, both displays function correctly without any issues. However, the problem occurs if there is a power outage while the external monitor is connected. When the power goes out, the MacBook’s built-in display turns completely black. After the power returns, the external monitor starts working again as expected, but the MacBook’s display remains black and does not turn back on. The only way to fix it is by restarting the MacBook, which is inconvenient because I may have unsaved work open at the time. This issue started after I upgraded to macOS Tahoe (version 26.2). Previously, when I was using macOS Sequoia, I did not experience this problem. I am looking for a permanent solution so that the MacBook’s display recovers automatically after a power interruption without requiring a restart.
