Calendar event alerts not working on iPhone and MacBook Air

The calendar event alert is not working on either my iPhone 16+ IOS 26.2.1 or my MacBook Air M4 Tahoe 26.2. I've done the basic checks: shut them down, restarted, checked settings and nothing resolves it. Thankfully the work-around is to use the alarm, but that is a bit cumbersome when I use the calendar & alert multiple times per day. (note: the search issue on the calendar still comes and goes... bummer)

hmmm....I do not have a straight forward resolve

on the Mac you can try the —

Reset Notification Center: Use this command in Terminal to reset all app notifications:

From the Terminal.app you can copy and paste:

killall NotificationCenter

If the Calendar app is being sync'd through iCloud— try signing out and back in

Sign out of your Apple ID/Account /iCloud on the Mac and back in again and compare your results

I’ve found calendar notifications get messed up every time there’s a new iOS update. I’d only just finished deleting and re-adding recurrent events and notifications to my calendar when this last update occurred, and now I’m right back to not getting notifications again. I’ve tried all the suggested checks - settings, notifications, etc and nothing works. So I’m back to deleting and re-adding again. I think l’ll start ignoring iOS updates for the time being, until some kind of fix is found by Apple.

That's what I've decided was the issue.... updates... I've been updating when they come, but.... as you say.... maybe I'll re-think that practice. So I continued to work on finding a resolution using the suggestions from the previous posts and the Apple search... and VIOLA! Both iPhone 16+ and MacBook Air M4 are "with the program". It turned out to be in the settings .... which I'm sure was due to the update(s).

Thank you, everyone for your input... (I really do need to reboot my router though).
