Apple ID password rejected on iPad iOS 12.5.7

Rejection of my Apple ID password on iPad iOS 12.5.7.

I changed the password for my Apple account on March 11 2025 when I set up use of iCloud for data backup on my 2019 iMac (OS Sequoia).

I am trying to do a factory reset of the old iPad so that I can sell it. I have tried the password twice on the iPad and it is being rejected. Does this mean the password change on the iMac in March 2025 was NOT synced with the iPad automatically and I now need to reset the password on the iPad?

Thanks for guidance - I am VERY nervous of causing problems for my Apple ID and iCloud backup status quo!

Well, the reboot worked. I have signed out from the iPad using the March 2025 password. I can't remember when it was last booted up. I guess that if it had not been turned on and internet connected since the password date change then it would take some time to be informed of the password change. Never anticipated this and I apologize for being a bit hasty in posting the query.

As long as both device are signed into the same Apple Account it should sync automatically as long as the device can connect to the Internet to get the message that the password changed.

Thank you Limnos. Yes the iPad has the same email ID for Apple as the iMac. And it uses the same Wifi as the iMac does.

I will reboot the iPad now and see if anything changes. But I am pretty sure it has been turned on in the last year since March. It should not be rejecting my active password.
