Xbox Controller Not Reconnecting with MacBook or Not being able to re-pair with MacBook

I connected my Xbox Controller to my MacBook Pro and was using it to game with last night. I turned off the controller via the Xbox Button, and the next day I attempted to turn the controller back on and reconnect; however, the controller didn't turn back on and wouldn't re-pair with my MacBook. I went to Bluetooth settings and clicked "forget" now when attempting to reconnect the controller after holding the pair button or power button; the light flashes and then disappears when I stop holding whatever button I was holding. Is this just a me issue or a bug?
